Underneath the ledge Billy is balancing on is a three story drop. At the bottom of the three story drop is an asphalt car park. Billy’s new trick is to walk up and down the ledge all day. Sometimes she leans right out, trying to catch a bug or a fly on the outside of the glass railing. The ledge is very thin. It is, for us, a hair raising tightrope act.

Shoosha has never done anything like that. She has not once ventured out onto that ledge.

Now it’s not as if she’s a very agile cat, our little Billy. She’s forever slipping off ledges and pushing over ornaments (the few that survived my last clearing out, anyway). The prospect of her falling is very realistic.

We’re not sure what’s going to happen first: Bish or I have a heart attack, or Billy lands splat on the top of one of the cars, or on the asphalt between them.
