Big Excitements
November 21st, 2005 . by ImshinSo, more major developments in Israel politics.
Following new Labor Party chairman Peretz’s pulling the Labor Party out of the government coalition, PM Sharon went off to the president today to dissolve the Knesset AND (more excitingly) he left the Likud Party to form a new party. National elections in March.
Woopee! Instant blogging heaven.
It will be very interesting to see who joins Sharon from the Likud and even more interesting to see who joins him from Labor.
The really interesting thing will be to see how the new party fares in the elections. A breakaway central party has never done any good in elections here, not even with Ben Gurion in it (Rafi in 1965).
Could this finally be a real shake up of Israeli politics? I hope so. It’s high time.
Whatever happens, it certainly won’t be dull.
